Electrical basics review including:

  • Voltage, Current and how to measure it, AC and DC, Resistance.
  • Inductance and capacitance in AC and DC circuits.
  • Effect and calculation of voltage drop.
  • Working with multimeters, current clamps, and shunts, including hands-on exercises.

DC-based renewable system (off-grid):

  • System architecture and battery.
  • Calculate cable size and measure voltage drop.
  • Overcurrent and overvoltage protection.
  • Safe operation and installation.
  • Convenient session measurement of PV power.
  • Grounding and overcurrent protection.

Grid connection system:

  • Different types of generator inverters (asynchronous and synchronous types)
  • Safety.
  • Effect of power factor.
  • PV Installation Guidelines and Installation Standards.
  • Connection and wiring standards.

AC Security:

  • Grounding methods and their effects.
  • Safe operation and installation.
